CD REVIEW: S/T by LANEY'S LEGION

LANEY'S LEGION - Laney's Legion
(Perris Records)

Sweden appears to be the promised land for all things melodic hard rock. Case in point, the amazing debut release from, "The Godfather of Swedish Glam and Sleaze", Chris Laney and his band, LANEY'S LEGION. Chris Laney (vocals, guitar), Rob Marcello (guitar, backing vocals), Mats Vassfjord (bass, backing vocals) and Patrik Jansson (drums, backing vocals).  If you are a fan of driving guitar riffs, catchy melodies, and thumping double-bass drums, then you'll love what Chris Laney and company have to offer. The album was produced by Chris Laney, Anders Ringman. Everything about this recording blends nicely and I enjoyed listening to the entire album several times over. Standout tracks are definitely, "Taste Of Your Tongue", adrenaline driving rocker, "Beneath The Surface", the Def Leppard-ish vibe of, "Bleed Within", "Hollow", "Lady Luck", and the heaviest track on the album, "Legion". Big guitars, big drums, big guitar solos, and big vocal hooks!  The production is huge and the musical performances are intense. This really is a very high energy rock album that makes you want to drive fast and party hard.  Despite the fact that Laney's Legion doesn't bring anything new to melodic hard rock, it is still a high quality album that is essential for fans of the genre and anyone that likes rocking out to solid rock anthems. What Laney's Legion have done here is tapped into a tried and true formula that works, there is no reinventing the wheel here, just great songs with great melody, edgy guitar and passion for the genre. Well done Laney's Legion! - Highly Recommended
